HUNTING

In forests , there live about 60% out of 618 species of vertebrates, that can be found in Poland. Civilization caused, that immemorial balance of nature and rules being in force in the forest ecosystem, have been undermined. What's important, it influences the animals living there. That is why, nowadays their number, ways of nursery, as well as preventing harms from game animals are regulated by law, both Polish and European Union law.

Hunting in Poland is conducted in conformity to the rules defined by Game Law from 1995. There are many duties, that  hunting should fulfil, especially proper managing of game resources according to ecology rules. Hunting includes animal breeding, protection, and gaining animals by means of hunting or trapping.

The  most important aims of hunting include:

●      protection, maintenance of diversity and management of game population,

●      preservation  and shaping the natural environment  in order to  improve animals living conditions,

●      obtaining the relevant number of animals of different species,

●      doing hunting, sustaining a hunting tradition.

Under an act of Game Law, the District Forest Manager approves annual hunting plans in consultation with Polish Hunting Federation. During the approval of the Annual Hunting Plan, the District Forest Manager takes into consideration the necessity of sustaining the age and sex structure, and the number of game population.

The Forest District doesn't possess its own Game Breeding Centre, and game shooting districts are hired to  hunting associations.

In this way, the District Forest Manager controls 11 game shooting districts from which 2  belong to I Breeding & Hunting Preserve Area and 9 belong to III Breeding    & Hunting Preserve Area.

In already mentioned associations in 2013/2014  season,  the Annual Hunting Plan in means of  gathering game looks as follows: wild boar - 1136, stag - 133, deer – 605.  In the last seasons, nearby Przyborów,  wolfs were said to be seen. In the area of the whole Forest District about 500 beavers were counted while taking stock. Significant and very fast growth of  beaver population makes them do a lot of damage is the forest stands, road and irrigation infrastructure.

Incidentally, within our area there appears elk.
